Biographical Information

Creativity and artistry have always been important elements of AJ's life. Art, its creation and use, was a family endeavor. AJ's mother Violet Dykes, a talented artist and painter, taught her the love of color, contrast and line. A skilled craftsman, AJ's father Ron von Tauffkirchen, shaped and formed works of art from metal and wood. Their partnership created spectacular costumes, wearable art, and decorations for both interiors and exteriors.

AJ began designing and making jewelry at the age of seven. Her skills soon advanced as she studied art, history, and jewelry making. The knowledge she has gained from her formal education, research and travel both in the United States and Europe often finds expression in her designs. AJ's distinctive style with its romantic and historical influences reveals her ongoing study of and passion for jewelry. Her creations are at once subtle yet surprisingly complex, fusing color and texture in a cohesive design.

AJ's work is treasured and held in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. Passionate about sharing her knowledge of jewelry making, she has taught classes in public schools, educational events, and privately. AJ was born and raised on the West Coast. She currently lives in the Midwest with her family.
